Reading Rush 2019 wrap up // a semi successful readathon

Total books read: 3

Total pages read: 1040

The Reading Rush did not go as well as expected, and I did not stick to my TBR, but nobody’s surprised about that. The week did not at all go to plan, I wasn’t really in the reading mood and so I only finished three books. One of them was fairly long so still managed to read over a thousand pages, which is definitely more than I usually read in a week. And at least I enjoyed everything I did manage to read.

Books and challenges completed

Amy & Roger’s Epic Detourcompleted the challenge of reading a book with a five word title, and the challenge of reading a book you meant to read last year

I’m so glad I finally read this, it was a fun read, but so far it’s my least favorite Morgan Maston book. It was really enjoyable, but it didn’t seen to have the same level of charm as her other works. But I would still recommend it, all of her books are perfect summer reads.

Carry OnCompleted the challenge of reading a book with a non human main character

This is another book I’ve been meaning to read forever. It was not on my TBR, I picked it up on a whim and it turned out to be exactly what I wanted to read in that instance. I loved it, not as much as other books I’ve read this year but still its really good. I’m glad I won’t have to wait long for the sequel. I do however blame Carry On for why I didn’t read anything for two whole days of this readathon it left me in a little bit of a reading slump.

The Mermaids Voice Returns in this Onecomplete the challenge of reading a book with purple on the cover

I read this in about a hour, and after having not read anything for two days it felt nice to sit down and read a book in one sitting. I have liked all of Amanda Lovelace’s poetry collections and this was a lovely book to end the readathon with. It was the perfect way to spend a quiet Sunday afternoon.

I managed to complete 5/7 challenges so overall I did okay. I definitely do feel like I could have done better, but I almost always feel that way and am trying to focus on the positives. This whole experience made me want to join more readathons, so I found two to participate in that are happening this month. I’ll have a TBR for those up sometime this weekend, and maybe a something else to break up the sea of wrap ups and TBR’s.

Reading Rush Goals and TBR // Who else is participating? Let’s be friends

It has been ages since I participated in a readathon and I’m so excited to be joining in on the Reading Rush, I think I’m going to start doing more reading events in the future. Readathons usually work out well for me when I join them,so hopefully all goes well and I’m able to have a lovely book filled week, now for those who don’t know here’s some information about the event.

About The Reading Rush

The Reading Rush it is a annual readathon formally known as BookTubeAThon it is hosted by Ariel and Raleen and you can watch this video for more information. What I like about this year’s event is that you can now set up a profile on the website to track your progress and earn badges. You can add me as a friend on the Reading Rush site so that we can keep track of each others progress, my username there is also @Sunlightandstories. I’ll also try to be active on Twitter and Instagram, so you can also keep up with me there. Part of the point of this event is to bring the community together, so I would love to chat with any of you on whatever platform you prefer.

What I’ll be reading

Each year there are seven challenges I’ll be doubling up on a lot of challenges because I do not think I can read seven book in a week. At least not with how big many of my choices are. I’m also not going to try to read seven books like last year, the goal is to have a relaxed readathon.

Amy & Roger’s Epic Detour– I’m reading this for the challenge of reading a book with a five word title. For some reason I was having a hard time finding a book with five words in the title, then I remembered that I still hadn’t read this, I started it when I was on vacation but got distracted by other books.

Don’t Date Rossa Santos– I will read this for the challenge of reading a debut novel, unless I change my mind of course, there’s a few books that count for this category.

Everblaze (Keepers of the Lost Cities #3) – I’m halfway through reading this, but I don’t think I’ll have it finished by the 21st. I’m going to count it for the challenge of reading a book with a non human character, it could count for reading a book with purple on the cover if I need it to.

Under a Painted Sky – This will count for the count for the challenge if reading a book with purple on the cover. This also counts for the challenge of reading a book you meant to read last year, I hope I actually get to this during the readathon it’s been sitting half finished on my shelf for a while.

I don’t know if these books will end up being the ones I actually read, and I still am missing a book for the read and watch a book to movie adaptation challenge but this is my tentative plan.

Are you participating in the readathon? What books are on your TBR?

Booktubeathon 2018 wrap up

I was so hoping this post would be titled I read seven books in one week, but that did not happen. At least I did manage too read more than usual so even though I didn’t meet my goal I still consider it a success. I read four books and considering life often got in the way of reading I think I did pretty good.
  • The Book Thief: (3.5/5 stars) I only actually read fifty pages of this, I had already read most of it, and was aiming to finish it before booktubeathon but it didn’t happen. I finished it at twelve thirty am on the first day so it probably shouldn’t even count, but since I didn’t read a lot of the books I intended to read I’m going to count it.
  • Everything All at Once: (2/5 stars) This was not what I wanted or expected, it had a creepy love interest and I just did not enjoy it.
  • The Strange and Beautiful Sorrows of Ava Lavender: (5/5 stars) I loved this one, loved it enough for it to be a favorite of the year and it made up for my disappointment in my last read. Review
  • Avatar the Last Airbender The Search: (4/5 stars) This was exactly what I wanted and was so satisfied and happy with it. These comics are not as good as the show, but it is so nice to have new adventures with team avatar.
  • Every Heart a Doorway: (4/5 stars) I listened to this on audiobook and it was wonderfully narrated, and I really enjoyed it. I’m listening to the second book now, and will listen to the third one soon as well, this is a really interesting series and I’m glad a found a new series to marathon.

Did you participate is this years booktubeathon?  How many books did you read this weak?
